Most of you weren't even born, so you're too young to remember…
That fateful day in 2001, on the 11th of September.
19 terrorists' hi-jacked jets, in a brazen quest for power…
Thousands of folks would lose their lives, as the planes crashed into twin towers.
The damage was devastating, as our homeland was attacked…
The first-responders became heroes, True courage they never lacked.
You see, they rushed right in, with no thought of fear…
Their bravery was admirable, as we wiped away the tears!
We are just very grateful, As Americans we are so proud…
That so many brave folks, would stand out in a crowd.
So we gather here this morning, to celebrate Patriot Day…
We'll reflect on our blessings, in this, the Home of the Brave!

The Falcon Way

>
> Welcome here to CFIS,
> We are so glad you are here...
> It's time to pay attention,
> So open your eyes and ears!
>
> We believe every child is capable,
> So listen close to what we say...
> Because every child is a leader,
> And it starts with The Falcon Way!
>
> It's about being respectful,
> And doing what is right...
> You're safe, responsible and ready to lead,
> And taking charge of your life!
>
> It all begins with small things,
> Like throwing your trash away...
> Or gettin started on your homework,
> Before you go out and play!
>
> It'll quickly become a habit,
> And also you will find...
> That merely walking in the halls,
> You'll get to class on-time!
>
> It's about making good choices,
> And working as a team...
> You'll learn to set goals,
> And strive towards your dream!
>
> Look, you may excel at math,
> Or be an excellent reader...
> But EVERY child has a gift,
> And everyone can be a leader!
>
> So, you can rest assured,
> It WILL be a great day...
> If you are ready to learn,
> And live The Falcon Way!
>

Kaitlyn's Law

The day was January 1, and the year was 2002…..

"Kaitlyn's Law" became effective, telling us what to do!

It's now against the law, to leave a child 6 and under…

Unattended in a car, you shouldn't have to wonder!

The temperature rises quickly, and  it might take a miracle….

To save a young life, if left in a motor vehicle!

This is a safety matter, it's certainly not a joke….

Hyperthermia is dangerous, as deadly as a stroke!

"Kaitlyn's Law" is in memory, of little Katie Russell…

Who was somehow left behind, in all the hustle and bustle!

She inspires "Purple Ribbon Month", at this time every year…

To educate and increase awareness, the message is very clear!

Never leave a child alone, or unattended in a car….

It doesn't matter for how long, no matter where you are!

Helping spread this message, is a wise choice to make…

You could be a hero, for all of our kid's sake!

Gratitude

If you posess "gratitude", you have thankfulness.....
and with the right attitude, you'll show gratefulness!

Saying "thankyou" is imperative, it makes a lasting impression...
Coach can't tell ya what to do, but here's a few suggestions:

Send "thankyou" cards and e-mails, or even personal notes...
or just make a phone call, they  all get my votes!

You can also give of yourself, give the gift of "time"....
you show  your appreciation, and it won't cost you a dime!

It helps nurture relationships, and this alone is great....
it's a positive characteristic, a very desired trait!

It's  being thankful for what you have, instead of being rude....
so go ahead and say "thanks", and express your "gratitude"!

Tennis

The game of "Tennis", is a wonderful sport...
You'll need a ball and racquet, and a net and a court!

Now the court may be cement, or made of grass or clay...
And the game of "Tennis", is played both night and day!

When choosing a racquet, consider it's weight, grip and balance...
select one that feels good, it will help you show your talents!

You can play singles, or even mixed doubles....
But if you're all alone, your gonna have troubles!

Of course you'll need to practice, so get a racquet and ball...
And if nothing else, we'll hit it against the wall!

Soon your serve and volley, will be the best in school...
But the part I like best, is how you keep your cool!

Just remember the more you play, the better you will get...
So keep it inside the line, and just over the net!

"Our Friend"

This poem is for Our Friend, Paul Eugene Ward...
Though no longer with us, he's home with the Lord!

Our Friend was my teacher, and he knew how to inspire...
A role-model and mentor, whom I respect and admire!

He took the time to listen, and truely understand...
He always had a kind word, ready to lend a hand!

Today, I honor Our Friend, and let me make this clear...
This man was remarkable, genuine and sincere!

We'll miss his sense of humor, and the wisdom that he shared...
But recall the life-lessons, and remember how he cared!

We'll miss the sharp wit, and the infectious grin...
But won't soon forget, the Love for Our Friend!

Ya see, Our Friend was so much more, then what's in this poem...
I find comfort dear Lord, that he's finally home!

Respectfully,

Coach A
